If you select the year 1997, it wont list the 2462 hkr headers. This is because its desgned for the TBI trucks NOT our Vortec trucks. The 2462 hkt headers have the O2 senor bung ina drivets sode primary tube, while the Vortec trucks use precat O2 sensors.Another difference is the Vortec engines use an EGR feed bung located on teh drivers sode primary tube. The 2462 1hkr DOESNT have thise bung. If you need to retain EGR, then get a bung welded in. I disabled EGR via PCM tuning. NBot difficult at all to retain EGR. I personally have been using teh 2462 1hkr headers for 8 years now on my 1997 rcsb Vortec 350 truck.

Seeing as you want a send opinion I will let other 2462 1hkr users give their opinions.

Those headers will fit your vehicle.

I got mine from Schillings Performance in Guelph. Just down teh 401 from you. I wouldnt steer you wrong. But theres nothing wrong with researching.

hah im just nervous cause ive had way too many aftermarket parts not fit the way ive needed them to.

youve answered all of my questions tho. From ordering hooker long tubes in the past that 02 sensor bung wont be drilled out so thats a non issue to me.

And the egr aspect, well im moving to edmonton next month where it'll have to past a tech inspection so ill wait until after i have it transfered to an alberta vehicle then ill put them on the truck.

thanks for your help, much appreciated. what are you using for tuning your truck? wont be long before i get into that as well, already did a bit of reading as to tunercat coming out with a system but all of my experience is obd1 speed density.

I am using Tunercats OBD2 to tune my truck. Tunercats sold teh rights to Jet so now TC2 is sold under JET DST. Westers Garge also has a version of the TC2/Jet DST as well.

You can swap out your blackbox PCM for a newer GEN 3 engine PCM, teh last 3 numbers of its pn are 411.

This thread has lots of info onteh 411 swap. This PCM was used in 2001 and 2002 to control L31 350's and L30 305's in fullsize vans. This setup is teh perfect mix of GM using a new PCM to run an older style motor, just perfect for us guys who want to retrofit to the newer PCM.
The blackbox PCM has its rev limiter set to 5600 rpm in Vortec 305 and 350 applications, but even if this is set to a higher setting, the PCM wont llow a rev limit above 5800 rpm. The 411 PCM allows you to dial in whatever rev limit you want.

This PCM swap allows you to tune with EFILIve, LS! EDIT and HPTuners, as well as JET DST and TC2.

ill definitly look into doing that swap if all i need is the actual ecm and to re-wire a couple of the connectors. I assume it does a lot more then just giving you the ability to move the limiter, because thats not of any real importance to me. This is my DD and being made for low end torque and not high hp

It is but where do you get those specs? As for vortecs exhaust port it is the same design as all the previous standerd non-performance heads so most any header will work as long as it clears the chassie.
