Sure, but you'll need better valvesprings and retainers, otherwise you're piZZing in the wind.

you have to drill the pushrod holes to a larger size when running a 1.6 rocker on vortec heads, you dont need to change springs and retainers if using the stock cam, springs depend on the cam, and retainers are retainers thers no real difference about .480 lift and with a stock cam and 1.6 rockers your still not close to that

How do you go about drilling the pushrod holes? We are talking the pushrod holes in the heads right? I'm interested in upgrading to 1.6.

Maybe I should have worded that differently... What kind of performance gain would you get running a 1.6 rocker with a stock cam. I know you can pair them up, I was wondering if there would be any benifit to doing that.

You need to pull the heads off and drill the pushrod holes bigger. You should drill them to a 1/2 inch diameter. Also if you have the heads off, you should also swap the pressed in rocker studs for screw in ones.
