since he's got a 94 K1500, its going to be either a 60E, or an 80E. the chances of an 80E are extremely slim. so, on the assumption that you have the 80E, your dad is right. dumb idea.

I am going to assume you meant 60E. Here is what he has in his signature.Originally Posted by GreaseDog
Finally, don't be so fast to discount the 700r4/4L60E design, they came behind some of the factory 454 and 6.5 diesels in G-series vans. In a 1990 1 ton van under 8,600 lbs you could get the 700r4 behind a 235 HP 454 making 385 TQ.Rebuilt and Beefed up 4L60-e
I have swapped a 454 TBI making over 400 hp in front of a 1995 4L60E with only a Vette Servo, .500 TV Boost valve, Transgo HD2 shift kit, and reprogramming. Its been in there 25K now and its still on the same old higher mileage 4L60E.

400 - 500hp and about the same torque is the most I've seen a 700R4/4L60E live thru with moderate upgrades, most are trashed before they get to that power level. The 4L80E, particularly those made after '97, can take much more. I'm beefing one up to go behind a 750hp pump gas 565 in my '55 truck, hope to be able to beef it up enough to take that plus a 250 shot for when (not if) the more power bug bites.
I think he's right. Time to swap a T56 in :)Originally Posted by Gopedxr
