Hey guys, I got a question. I'm thinking about putting vortec heads on my 89 5.7L 350 TBI. I know I will also need a intake for these. What all will I need to complete this and also is it really worth the time and money. Thanks!

The same considering that the stock LO5 193's are 64 cc chambers as well.

You may as well do a cam at the sametime to take advantage of the heads and a tune. Even the stock TBI setup benefits greatly from a cam swap and a tune. Cams are like @$$holes, everyone has an opinion. Figure out what you are truly after and go from there.

Since your in California you probably still want to pass smog I assume. The Vortec heads have no EGR passages and need an EGR pickup tube from one of the manifolds, or in your case, headers. So you need to add a pickup tube on one header or the other or ditch the EGR. That latter is no real benefit to you and you will definetely fail then.

Generic "will my cam work" mean nothing. What cam, there is more than one camshaft for Chevy small block V8's made by Comp you know. If it worked with the stock springs on the TBI heads it will do the same on Vortec's. Beyond about .450 lift stock Vortec heads need springs. Much higher and you interfere with the stock valve guides and they need to be machined down. If the heads have any real amount of miles on them I would do springs anyways. Inexpensive insurance over dropping a valve.

Sorry about that.I went with comp cam 12-205-2(206/206-.425/.425)800-4800 RPM.
Since I kept the TBI heads I figured it was a good cam to go with.Have 1.5 Summit roller rockers in them with camaro valve springs. The Vortechs have 89 thousand miles on them. Thanks for the help Badass69
