you can make your own intake thats same as k&n for about 1/3rd the price if you try hard enough and neither of these really gain a ton of hp if any hp probably better off keeping it stock and save the money you would spend for repairs

I recently purchased a '99 Chevy Suburban C1500 5.7l Vortec 350. I am looking for ideas on exhaust (something simple and not overly expensive) maybe flowmaster, our local shop can bend the pipes pretty cheap. ( I just want more of a throaty growl, nothing to loud). Not sure about just keeping it single pipe or dual (dual just doesnt seem quite right on a 2WD suburban). I was also thinking about intake/airfilter (K&N style). has anybody any better performance and/or fuel economy with either/both of these additions over stock. Thanks

The intake would really only benefit you at full throttle, the stock intakes do just fine. Unless you're taking the suburban out to the track (as awesome as it would be to see a suburban beat a muscle car... lol) I'd just do the exhaust if I were you, not sure how big your stock pipes are but thats where the most restriction of power would be at all RPM ranges. If you can get the pipes bent at a local shop cheap than thats even better and you can just buy a muffler from flowmaster or whomever you choose.
