I have a 305 in my truck and I want more power, so I'm thinking either swap in a warmed up 350 or a 454..

Is the big block swap easy if I get another tbi motor?
    What's required?

350 swap I could use my 305 ECM and all the parts from my 305 right?

Which would you choose? I'd like To see 400ft/lbs if it's not gonna cost me 10k

305 ECM for the 350 yes, Injectors no, especially if you are building.

454 will put down your 400ftlbs with stock tuning.

350 will take parts and tuning to run right.

So I could make the power with just doing a cam, and exhaust on the 454?

How hard is the 454 swap gonna be?

350 injectors could be had pretty easily,
And I already have the stuff needed to tune the ECM :)

All true, but it should be stated that going BBC isn't a simple drop in and go. Accessories, cooling, etc...

You could build a 350 to get there, or find a serviceable 400 block and go that route if you want to stay small block. Both these otions will take more tuning to keep TBI happy.

A TBI 454 is stock 385ftlbs, so it doesn't need much help. If you sourced a complete 454 with accessories and harness/ECM, you would in damn good shape.

No. They came in all Chevy trucks. But you'll mostly find them in 1 tons and suburbans.

They didn't come in all chevy trucks. only way to get a TBI454 in a 1500 is a 454SS.

How can you tell the difference just by looking at the motor?

So I need motor, harness,ECM and accessory brackets?

Cooling was mentioned, will the stock radiator not support the bbc?

    Motor mounts?
    Tranny bolts up?

You can tune but can't tell a small block from a big block?

    You'll want a 454 sized rad.

    You'll need BBC motor mounts.

Tranny bolts up. A TH350 can live behind a stock 454, but I wouldn't push it harder than that.

Done any searching? There have been a few TBI350-TBI 454 swaps on here.

The yard around here is nasty and I may have to scrounge parts from multiple rigs, heads in backs of rigs etc, I know it's physically bigger lol, but just was looking for any other obvious differences.. I've never touched a bbc before always sb stuff

Can the 350 be built to take the 454 beating or am I better getting a different trans?

Sorry but, this seems like a job for a warm small block stroker to me.

Starting to sound like a job for a pro to me... If OP can't tell a BBC from an SBC... can OP stroke a 350?

How did you confuse the two? One has a nearly square pan with a corner missing, the other has a shape that is awkward to describe even.

It was a typo sorry, I know it's a 400 and that there are major visual difference.. It was early when I typed the post

me and my dad have rebuilt 2-3 sbc over the years, sorry I have no experience with a bbc.. I just wasn't sure if other then the huge size difference there was anything else to Id certain parts.
