What heads? I have the GM spreadbore/egr intake (Vortec) on mine, and the TBi unit was bolted to a factory 454 spreadbore adapter, so I just used that. It's an open design (actually has a couple vanes to direct air/fuel) and seems to work pretty well, the engine is very snappy for having a long stroke. If I didn't have emissions to deal with I may have just put a 2bbl Vic jr on to see how that would've done.

I'm pretty much running the same setup as Doober, a spread bore vortec intake with the GM big block throttle body adapter. I haven't fired the engine with the new intake setup because I'm waiting on some hose and hose ends to finish plumbing the intake so I can't give an opinion of this particular setup in terms of performance.
I was using a square bore single plane intake with a 1/2" aluminum TB adapter, but switched to this present intake because cold weather drivability was downright atrocious. Hopefully the heated adapter will solve the drivability issues I was experiencing.

I would've liked to compare the open 454 adapter to the 2-hole spacer but it was the same time I switched heads.

I like the open design of the stock big block adapter and it adds a good amount of plenum volume as well. That's almost always a good thing from a performance standpoint...to a certain extent, of course.

The fact that you can plumb coolant through it pretty much sold me on it.

thanxs for the input guys...I run a sb 2"bored tb.Since I don`t have to match vortec head angle I have a few more choices in the intake.

Do those AFR's have an exhaust crossover?

I know several of their heads are 50-state legal, so it wouldn't surprise me.

EdelbrockPerformer RPM. If you want a bit more plenum volume, and possibly improved velocity/atomization (up for argument), slap a phenolic spacer on top of it. Being that you're in the great white north, I'd stay away from the "airgap" style intakes because of the cold run-ability issues you'd have.
