Welp, I went ahead and took the plunge. I ordered a tune program from Wester's Garage. I got the 91 octane tune, and only because 93 octane is not readily available in Tucson. Lyndon said it wont make a huge difference anyway. The most change will be had when compared to the 87 octance tune. I am not really concerned with saving a few $$$ at the pump. Anyways, I am hoping to see it by then end of the week, so I will keep you guys posted on the results.

Yeah, I am very excited about getting it. From what I have researched on all the programmers and programs out on the market today, I would have to say I chose the correct tune. The Wester's PCM program can be custom programmed to my very specs, unlike the handheld type programmers, which will only change a few parameters, I can pick and choose the exact parameters and at what values. I like the fact that I can do that. I used to have a Superchips Microtuner and I have to say that I was a bit disappointed with it. The performance gain was minimal and the user control was sad. I am sure I made the correct choice, and they were about the same price. I'll keep ya posted.

Can you tell me the site you bought it from and how much? I have the hypertech but it will only let me tune it for 93 octane and we only have 91 here looking to buy a new one.

Don't you have to remove the PCM from the truck and mail it to them? If so, that blows if it is your daily driver. I wouldn't be able to do that. Someone needs to tune this truck though.

Like Tribal stated, you contact Lyndon, order up the tune (to your specs!) and he will send it to you via the mail. You get it, plug it in, and burn some rubber! You have a 30 day free trial period. Also, within those 30 days, your stock PCM must be sent back to him as a core return (kinda like when you buy a truck battery). Its really simple and he is more than friendly to work with. You cant lose on this. His tune will leave ANY handheld tuner in your dust....guaranteed!

So I answered him that the PCM is the computer of the truck that communicates with the motor and various sensors, like the oxygen and exhaust sensors.

i orderd mine last week, so i should have it by tomorrow. i cant slap it in until thursday tho, i need to get these oxygen sensors installed tomorrow. i am getting rid of my hypertech hopefully, i never really thought it did much. now to install this new pcm, i disconnect the battery, take out the old one, slap the modded one in then connect the battery? i hope my yukon can spin the tires with it, right now they only will spin if i punch it while im turning. only 2 more days cant wait!!!!

Congratulations on ordering your Wester's guys, hopefully you will be as pleased as I am with mine!

Make sure you un-install the Hypertech before swapping PCM's, or you won't be able to sell it. Yup, just swap them and go out and drive it hard. It will run better and better the more you drive it. Usually takes about 30 miles to "learn" your truck and tune itself. What is your truck and what tune did you get?

I noticed that missing too, someone else asked the same question a while ago. The answer was 1996-2000 4.3/5.0/5.7 and 7.4 for $395.
