Sadly its the name of the game, however i wouldnt be surprised to see it 'come back'. Usually chapter7 isnt the end all, its a way of ummm 'downsizing' and getting rid of some unwanted overhead.

Announced via FB on Fri Feb 18th:
"Working with all of you has been the experience of a lifetime. The economic situation has put the company in the position of not being able to find working capital needed to continue operations after 26 years of business. As of today February 18th, 2011 twelve noon we have closed all operations at our main plant and all subsidiary locations. Thank You for Your Many Years of Support."
And the doors closed that day.
I know I'll hold on to my Demon carbs. I've got a Speed Demon 650 vacuum secondary. A Mighty Demon 750cfm with annular boosters, and a Mighty Demon 825cfm.

Agreed, we'll see what happens. That is a pretty serious memo to put out.
heard bout this, as i placed an order for a new assembled baseplate for my 650 vac through jegs like two weeks ago... they called me the next day and told me it was on back order till the 21st i told them go ahead and do it- i need it. got the baseplate direct from BG like 2 days later. jegs called a few days later saying all operations (@barry grant) were being suspended had told them i received it already guess i lucked out.
truckless
sad to see a staple in the business struggling like that and not be able to stay around, puts things in perspective though...

Ya, thats pretty crazy. I called them thursday for a part number and called back friday to varify and got the message. Pretty weird.

They were hit and miss quality wise. My 650DP speed demon was a good carb but the 625 road demon Jr was a giant pile of crap that they refunded after they couldn't fix it. I think its what kept them small when the economy was good and doomed them when the economy died.

I heard alot of bad things about BG. There customer service and quality were chit. Other companies stepped up (and there are alot of them) and took the buisiness.
I also heard you could not buy parts for there stuff, you had to send stuff back to them.![]()
i never had good luck with my 650 Speed Demon, i dont know why, but it would never work right.
But, i will keep ahold of it, just because its gonna be hard to find now.

Ive nothing but good to say about them. I used several different speed demons vac. & mec. secondaries

I hate my demon carb(750 annular w/mec. secondaries). The only reason I bought it, was because I was young and dumb, and thought it was pretty.

Some people love em, some people hate em, I don't leave home without one! As for their customer service, I've NEVER found them to be anything short of very helpful and willing to spend the time to talk out any issues you might have with anything they sell. But then I've always had very good luck with them and never had to call them very often.

I love my mighty demon 750 annualar booster. I had always ran holleys and decided to try something different and it worked great right out of the box. Minor tuning at the track and its been the best darn carb I've ever owned. Lots of guys told me when I put it on that it wont be on there long before I rip it off and throw it in the trash. Heard of alot of guys not having much luck with them but I have been impressed with the one I got
I was expecting the pricing to dip down some, I'd imagine retailers would be trying to move the current inventory since replacements won't be available. But pricing is staying firm, doesn't look like guys are trying to move these carbs.
I wanted to get a Mighty Demon 650 Annular for a street motor. I love my 750cfm annular on my engine, but a 650 would do great on a mild SBC
mine's still a love/hate deal as well, it's really the first carb i've ever had to read about lol, every other one's just a turn here turn there type of carb. i was going to sell it along with my hei and fpr to fund fuel injection, but i'll probably keep it as well now that it'll be different
truckless
Looks like my Demon problems are no longer there, I did a full rebuild on her this winter, and the other day decided to throw it on my 455. Runs great. Will be holding on to her now.

All of my carb/Demon issues went away went I dialed in the ignition timing. All hesitations, stumbles, poor fuel economy and overly rich idle. All gone with the correct ignition settings for the engine
Little bit of an update, my truck was running like ****, wouldn't even idle on its own, played around with timing and couldn't get it too work.
So i said "**** It", went outside, pulled the Speed Demon 650 off my 455 Buick, slapped it on my truck, runs AWESOME, idles great, great throttle response!
Will be holding onto this Demon, thinking of selling my 670 Street Avenger Holley, i bought the damn thing new 10 months ago, and never have been impressed.
