On my vortec headed SBC I use a Comp XR276HR10 installed +4 degrees (224 Int/230 Exh dur @ .050", 110 lobe sep, .502" Int/ .510" Exh) with Comp magnum 1.52:1 rockers and Comp 26918 springs. I use 36 degrees max timing @ 3000rpm, 15 degree cranking and 10 degree vacuum on manifold for 26 initial. RPM air-gap copy intake, four hole tapered spacer and a Mighty Demon 750cfm annular booster. I see about 9-11" of vacuum at idle and have been very happy with the streetability. With the torque converter locked and the 4L60E in 4th I cruise around 75mph at 2400rpm with 4.10:1 rear gears and 32" tall wheels. The engine is stable and just cruises right along.

The pics posted in the link above are actually from my engine, I used part numbers as printed in a magazine and they were missprints so I ordered and installed the wrong retainers.
