truck is a 4x4 ECLB with 3.42 gears and open rear diff (still plan on getting a limited slip soon) id love to get 3.73 gears or 4.10 gears, but for now 3.42's are in the cards.

my stock converter is working fine, and im guessing it can be used with the 6.0L, but im wondering if there's something else that i "should" use with the extra power of the 6.0L engine.

my truck is pretty much only used for utility purposes, i probably only put 3,000 or so miles a year on it, and normally its hauling something in the bed, or towing something on the trailer.

just wondering what would be my best option, any idea's are greatly appreaciated.

6.0L isnt in the truck yet, still gotta pull it from the donor truck (02 silverado 2500HD)

Unless you put a more aggressive cam in the 6.0 I dont see a need for anything other than the stock TC. Just my .02

I beg to differ....Even a stock cammed truck can see up to a 1/2 second ET improvement from a ~2,800-3,000 stall with a 2.4-2.6 STR. With a 4spd automatic you need all the torque multiplication you can get to move the heavy truck.

I agree with that. I was just going off what the original post said. I didnt take that he would be making any trips to the strip anytime soon. He stated that the truck was primarily used for utility and towing purposes. Im not a TC expert and may be wrong but I didnt think high stall speeds and towing were a good combination

this is an old thread, but i still havent put the motor in my truck yet, ive already got it, but havent installed yet, waiting on tax return.

    right now i have:

    2002 LQ4 motor,
texas speed 2020R cam with 111 LSA, new push rods, new lifters, new .040 MLS Cometic head gaskets, all new intake gaskets, and oil pan gasket.

for now im going to leave the 3.42 gears in it and add a trutrac to the rear end.

im hoping for around 300HP at the wheels and would love 350+ ft/lbs at the wheels, but im happy with any improvement.
