I searched the forums, it has already probably been answered but I couldnt find it. Will a high flow cat make my exhaust louder, or just give me more power over stock?

If louder, how much louder compared to just dumping them and running a pipe through the center?

pipe through the center would be louder. but the cat you have on your truck is a piece from the factory so a high flow one would be a lot louder or should be.

I'm not a fan of not running cats, or gutting them, but thats my opinion

On an 88 however, if yoy still have the stock cat, any high flow will make a fairly noticeable difference in sound and performance both

Now if I could only find an excuse to change the cat. Dad says hayll no. Here in MO, they dont check emissions, cept visually seeing the cat. I want to put a pipe through it for now, its cheaper. I am still worried if I do gut it, will my torque move up in the rpm range, or will it be noticeable at all?
