Whats right forme?

Ok i have a 98 5.7 with dual cats i believe. I want it to be know when i stop on the gas and take off from lights. It does not need to be loud when i'm cruising but if it is thats ok to. I just really want it loud when i take off. I dont wanna loose power or mpg but would love to gain some of both :) What would be best dual mufflers or single in dual out. Which mufflerwould be loudest to. I dont want glass packs but what else is there for areally loud sound but thats not ilegal? I knowi'm asking a lot but i want it done rght. thanks

They do have dual cats. I hope we get a lot of responses to do this cause i have the same year as yours and I want something that will make a good rumble when I take off.

I'd get glasspacks if I were you. I had them for about a year on my 4.3. They were sickly loud at startup and when you revved it but weren't too bad when cruising. But with my 4.3 it sounded a little ricey. If I had a v8, that would be the first thing I would do to it.

btw now i have a dynomax super turbo. It is extremely deep, even on my 4.3...sounds like bass from a good system. But it's not too loud, not even close to what i want.

I put a flowmaster 50 series, dual in dual out with pipes coming straight out the back on my 96Z. At start up its a nice rumble, then crusing you can hear it purring. When you hop on the gas, it roars. Especially now with my k&n. I dont like the sound of the 40 series, and glass packs i think you have to replace after awhile. Look into the 50 series flow's. I am more than happy with mine.

Go with the Flowmaster 40's. I have Borla and sound cool but it is expensive for stainless. I t is realy up to you. Looking for sound then glass pack. They are cheep and loud.

Looking for performance and mod. sound then go with a manufacture: Flowmaster, Borla, Bassani, Gibson, and on on on.

Hope that helps but the final desision is up to you.

i think glasspacks are old school.
but if you got to get em, get em long.
the longer they are, the deeper and better they sound.
the short ones make everything sound like a beat up old ford

i run dual flowmaster 40 series on true dual exhaust with no catalitic converters and 2.5" piping. It sounds like a *****ing beast! I am going to add an X pipe and 2.25" exhaust pretty soon to get a deeper grunt and a little more back pressure for the low end torque. I love it and with the X pipe I think I will be finally satisfied. I did run dual glasspacks and it sounded like a card in a bicycle tire. Please do not get glasspacks, they sound horrible on the vortec engines in my opinion. Also straight pipes with no cats sounds good at low rpms but when you get on it it has the card in the bike tire sound. If you dont want it so loud get dual flowmaster 50 series or magnaflows which seem to have a good reputation as well. I do plan on getting headers so I guess im not quite satisfied yet but one day maybe I will

i like the sound of stacked glass packs. two in a row it makes a realy deep loud sound
