I'm getting ready to put the exhaust on my 03 Hd with a 6.0.Im going to run a stainless X-pipe, borla Xr-1 sportsman mufflers and 3" tailpipes out each side behind the rear wheels at an angle (all stainless). My question is where is the best place to put the X-pipe? Right after the cats, just before the muffler, or somewhere in between? Also how ya'll think its gonna sound?

    Re: X-pipe placement

I was told closer to the headers/ cats is the proper spot. Mark a line on the exhaust with white paint with a paint brush and start it up. where the paint boils off/burns of is the proper spot to put it.

Thats just what I was told before, however closer to the front where the headerers/cats are the better

Plave as close to the headers/manifolds as possible...it can be hard on trucks with limited room but the closer the better.
