exhaust tips?

I think my tips are hindering the sound of my exhast. they are goin out at a 45 deg. but the tip are only about 12 inch long either 2.5 or 3 inch diameter. but thats not the prob.
i think whoever installed them sliped the tip over the tailpipe too far. so i think i am not getting any kind of echo. i think it is pretty much like it is exiting without a tip.

would cutting off those tips and adding some that are a little longer and attached differently effect sound quality?

If you add some larger tips....like say a 4" or 5" tip..it will be louder because there will be more echoing....of course..i believe you have the 70 series and whatever you do..ure not gonna get any more sound out of it...believe me..i had it and nothing worked. I finally went to 40 series and couldn't be happier....save your money and get a 40 series with 3.5" or 4" tips and you'll be set.
