I have a 2006 2500HD ext cab short bed and I'm looking to put an aftermarket exhaust system on it. Which one is better: Borla, Corsa, or Gibson. Also stainless or not? Trying to get some opinions on which route to go. Any help is much appreciated!

    Re: Which exhaust system?

Hard to say as "better" depends on what you are wanting to do with the vehicle as well as the subjective topic of sound. All three are reputable name brands.

If you've got the money on hand, I would suggest going stainless steel as it will last longer than aluminized - especially since you live in the snow belt and I'm certain that there are areas where salt is used on the roads for ice melting.

    Re: Which exhaust system?

You allready have dual 3" exhaust into a dual in single out muffler, just get a couple mufflers and some tailpipes and you are set.

    Re: Which exhaust system?

Thanks guys. I was thinking SS, although it does cost more $. I don't want anything too abnoxiously loud. Just a decent sound with good performance without going broke in the process!

Another question. Does an exhaust system coupled with a cold air intake yield any improvement in mpg?

    Thanks again!

    Re: Which exhaust system?

Initially, I would say "no" because usually the driver's right foot gets a bit heavier after changing out the exhaust side. However, after that period of play has passed, one can notice a slight increase in mpg due to better intake/exhaust flow efficiency.
