Headers are definately worth...just dependings on how much you want to get into it. I don't think they make a 4wd set of long tubes so shorties would be a easy, bolt in choice that doesn't require any fab. to the y-pipe.

Well, I've own flowtechs before and I will never buy another set of them. But headers do a great job in throttle response and increase power overall.

I've heard mixed comments on Flowtech's. But I have had no problem with my Gibsons.

I didn't know if headers gave that much improvement

they do a lot, essentially 305's have asthma, anything to help them breath improves performance
from what ive heard u really dont need aftermarket headers for obs trucks, they say that stock exhaust manifold are enough to flow enough air and handle about 500 horses..

Dude where did you get that information from.. Stock manifolds on OBS trucks are among the most restrictive GM made.. Headers will definitely help the 305 a little.Originally Posted by stook36

Yea....link that source b/c the stock manifolds weren't enough for my stock 350 much less my built up 383....anything you do to get the restriction out of the exhaust improves performance and power.Originally Posted by stook36
Back on topic...Just try to get 1 5/8" primaries...edelbrock makes a nice set.

Hooker 2462 HKR 1 5/8" primaries an 2 1/2" collectors, true long tube header, gave me awesoem gains in low rpm and high rpm power and torque. $180 from Summit racing painted or $325 ceramic coated or $550 for stainless.

What to you guys think of the Hedman Street Headers? Summit Racing Number HED-69440. My buddy has a simular set in his 85 Chevy and it takes the abuse of full out off roading rally good. Just not sure how they fair on the OBS trucks. Heres the sepcs. 1 5/8" primaries, 3 inch collector 1/4 in flange with a ball and socket collectro flange. So?

I have the hedmans on mine...the only thing I don't like about the Streets are the 1/4" flange....that's why I went with the Elite series for that 3/8" flange.....but to each his own.

I wrote it but I didnt even pay much attention to them only having a 1/4 inch flange. I was looking for the 1 5/8 primaries and 3 inch collector, but I am leaning tord the hookers alot more now that you said that. They are only an extra 40 bucks. I need to get ideas for b day gifts so that will be top on it. Going to make a custom full lenght header exhaust with 2.5 inch pipes. for now im just going to run it into the 3 inch flowmater pipe untill that give out all the way. I can only repair that so many times and the cat back kit is starting to rust soooo.... whrn that happins it will be 2.5 duels all the way back on a 95 4 door 4wd hoe.

You might want to consider a stainless steel exhaust for lifetime usage.
