as the title reads im really interested in upgrading my exhaust... so what makes a cat back better? i have a 07 crew cab... so why should i step up to 3 inch... can i leave the stock 2&3/4 piping and just add a magnaflow wit turndowns or run 3 inch all the way back.... i plan on 2/4 my truck on 22s so i dont want it to look funny with a cat-back and a chrome tip.... i want to put a roll pan and shave my tailgate so i think the tip would throw it off... please let me know...ant

The Borla Cat-Back performance exhaust systems are good ones. They are also custom designed to fit your vehicle. Maximum flow maintenance and a nice throaty growl is what I like most about it. The Borla I got even had a turn down chrome tip for my trailer hitch.

Honestly, the only difference between getting a cat back system and just a muffler is that the cat back costs more. The OEM catalytic converters are just as good as most aftermarket cats, so your mostly throwing money away. 3 inch pipe will just give you a little deeper sound, but the performance gains are slim if any. personally, id dump your muffler with some turndowns right behind the cab, it sounds damn good. its what i have on my 4.3L truck, and it sounds awesome even tho its a 6 cylinder. And since your lowering your truck, you wouldnt have any goofing lookin piping coming out the back.

The more piping you have, the more restriction you have. i wouldnt suggest taking the cats off, but if you want a good performance gain and some amazing sound, take off the muffler and run straight 3 inch pipe off the cat. Granted, thats illegal in most places, but most cops cant tell the difference between exhaust sounds unless your just ridiculously loud.
