nice, is it ok that the manifolds have square ports and the headers have circular ones?

thanks! they're more oval shaped than square on vortecs, these headers are a direct bolt on for sb vortec v8s, there would be alitte problem running theses on D shaped ports found on Lt1 enginesOriginally Posted by mgrotel

the ports just dont look right... just seems like it would restrict the flow. How bad were they to install? Im thinking of getting some for my truck at christmas.. mines not a vortec though. Also did you have to get a special model to give your plug heads room? Some of the models im looking at say that they may not accomodate angle head plugs... my plugs look like yours so do will it work with any shorty header?

thanks guys,my headers weren't any special model to use angle plug heads, these were straight bolt on, they came with a spacer for the dipstick tube, theres more room for the sparkplug wires with these headers opposed to the stock manifolds with the heat shields, the most time consuming part was the egr fitting, i took the whole assembly off of the intake, putting it back was a PITA because i didn't have much room to start the threads between the thermostate housing and ac compressor,

thanks, they're ceramic coated steel, for some reason edelbrock doesn't make ceramic coated stainless steel shorties for vortecs but they do for tbi'sOriginally Posted by PHATSPEED7x

The Ti-Tech's are awesome and after 3 years in Ohio winters they are holding up well ;)
Not meaning to hi jack the thread, but are you leaving the 1 muffler on the install and not making the truck a true dual setup. If so why not or what are the benefits of leaving just 1 muffler instead of 2. I'm kinda of new to this and have been looking at putting a new set of headers my 89 tbi 350 but I was looking at running 2 cherry bomb mufflers and dumping the exhaust. What are the pros and cons of each beside the obvious money spent?
By the way nice headers and even better with the self install.
Never mind found the answer myself after searching further

lol cool, thanks, curious but what was the answer? from what i've read, true duals is just over kill unless your engine is putting out 400+hpOriginally Posted by jcmorris

no true duals really helped my truck gain power. They also have a different sound compared to traditional 1 muffler setups. As long as you use a good muffler ( no glass pack BS) and the correct size tubbing ( 2.25 for a mild 350, 2.5 for a 350 with some engine mods) it works great.

here is the thread on the subject http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/...-dual-out.html
From what I read the dual exhaust with a crossover pipe is generally the best way to go.
lookin good that 5.0 is pretty quick and ****IN LOUD
glasspacks are free flowing and will net you more less resistance compared to a baffled muffler like flowmasterOriginally Posted by fabtech_chevy

Curious, if you left the rest of the exhaust the same, did you notice a sound difference with the shorties?

They still suck IMO. I lost ALL my back preassure running them ( mine were 14 inch ones though). I wouldnt run them again. My flowmasters feel better on my truck.. maybe its just my set up though. Not to mention that i blew one of the glass packs apart when they were only 8 months old ( and i baby my truck most of the time). Im also just partial to the sound of my truck.. i like a deap roar better than a pop sound..

Congrats on the install I have the same ones and they have been on my truck for about a year, and they still look like I put them on yesterday. (See my sig) Dont know how to post pics or I would.
