Longer = deeper, but typically quieter.
Shorter = louder, but not as deep (more raspy).
I don't know if case shape has anything to do with the sound.

This is a discussion on Magnaflow or SpinTech owners.... within the Exhaust forums, part of the Performance category; Which one of these has the deepest, erm, ballsiest sound? I'm about to order my entire exhaust system, long tubes ...
Which one of these has the deepest, erm, ballsiest sound? I'm about to order my entire exhaust system, long tubes and all, but I can't decide which of these to get. I'm open to other suggestions other than these two, except Flowmasters. They're way too common around here. I just want a really deep sound, fairly loud when I get on it, but pretty quiet while cruising. Suggestions? Truck details are in my sig.
EDIT: Also, what effects do the size and shape of the muffler have on the sound? Round or oval? Long or short?

The spintechs are really quiet while cruising and they get pretty loud when you get on it.

2004 1500 Silverado Z-71 ECSB 5.3L 3" body lift, 305/55R20 Nitto Terragrapplers on 20x10 Helo's, and a few bolt-on's.
I run the Spintech Pro-Street on my 02 5.3 -- good deep tone, fairly loud under acceleration, pleasant but noticeable at cruise....I'm pleased. Don't know if it's deeper than Magnaflow, but it is different. And, the Spintech's are built like a tank.....you could drive over it and not dent it.
Does the spintech resonate inside the cab much?
Not much - not objectionable at all. There is a very slight drone (resonant frequency) @ about 1600 rpm going up thru the gears, but nothing that buzzes your ears, or is unpleasant -- it actually sounds cool. At highway cruise, no problem at all. I have an 02 ECSB LT Z71, and I wouldn't have the Spintech if it were obnoxious at all.
i like my maganflow, its deep, gets loud as sh!t and scares people.... and it performs, it has the single in/out design... i recommend it... listen to Tiger3yz cause he is totally correct too...
did u get the headers at a good price?
i had spintech pro-streets on my 'stang.. and might be going back to them from my borlas. they were stupid loud when i stood on it, and still pretty ignorant at idle too. couldnt be the longtube headers, offroad X-pipe, and turndowns, or the .565/.574-lift cam that was feeding it either. here's a some vid for thought:

Thanks for the repsonses guys, looks like I'm going with the Spintech Pro-streets. And tbi-max: still haven't found em any cheaper. I guess I'll have to deal with the $420 price tag. Ouch.
BTW.. i got my pro-streets on ebay for 58-bucks apiece. do a search, the supplier is still up there.
