You guys have any advice/recommendations for adding a stainless tip on factory pipe on a 06 Silverado EC 3" pipe?? How far and where to cut for addition of the tip - before the bend, on the bend(for direction), or after the bend headed out the stock direction? What diameter outlet as well?

I thought about doing that on mine, but the oem pipe angles toward the right rear corner of the bumper which would look good, but the pipe appears to angle downward a little which may be alot if 18" were added.
Also the reason for wanting it out the side is for towing issues, don't want all my carbon ending up on whatever i may tow. Another question, resonated or not? Can someone clarify the difference or benefit?
There's really not a whole lot that tips do for performance, mostly appearance and sound. A resonator is going to resonate (wow!) and probably add a bit of drone, but if you're not adding a muffler it'd be negligible.Originally Posted by silverbell06

If a vehicle produces enough carbon to coat a trailer, then that's a sign that the engine is seriously ill. The main reason you might not want to point the tailpipe at an enclosed trailer is it helps keep the sounds from bouncing off the trailer and come back to drone the cab. That's how I ended up going for the Gibson super truck system... to keep the sound as far away from the trailer as possible and pointed out the side.
My opinion on "resonating" tips is that they have a little to no effect on sound. The length and diameter of the tip has more of an effect on the final sound than some interesting looking design.

Figure of speech. I truly understand what tips do for a vehicle. As far as the resonating ones, wasn't sure of their purpose. Apparently not much. I was more looking for tip ideas for those of us that keep our oem pipe. Figured i'm not the first to add a tip to a oem pipe, so wanted to see what others do. I decided to do something similar to Darkcharisma.Originally Posted by Tweaks

Nothing wrong with Charisma's setup. Nice and simple and looks right at home back there.

Here's what i decided. Magnaflow 12" 3.5" Stainless tip. Cut prior to the oem bend headed toward the rear corner bumper. Thank you to those that gave advice and helped me out.
