i planned on running catless when i did my headers but i atleast want something under the truck (96 5.7) that looks like a cat (for the popos). i was wondering what the loudest cat available was? i've looked at the thunderbolts, but i didnt know if there was anything louder. the object of my system is to sound like longtubes and no cats and no mufflers should sound. thanks fellas

because guttin it disrupts flow and sounds like crap. i thought about runnin pipe through the stock ones but i want some bigger diameter in/outs.

My Thunderbolts are as loud as glasspacks, not much quieter than straight pipe just a bit more toned. It sounds awesome with my Magnaflow. And why don't you want mufflers? It's gonna sound like crap without them, i'd at the very least run glasspacks so it's not horribly cackly.

your thunderbolts are as loud as glasspacks? are you sayin as loud as glasspacks with no cats? i might run something like a summit bullet but not much more than that i never run mufflers and it doesnt sound bad.

I'm saying if you had a system with say a Magnaflow muffler and no cat, and you throw on a Thunderbolt cat or a glasspack like a Flowtech Redhot, it'll be just as loud with whichever you choose, and the Thunderbolt will be a slightly cleaner sound, more tone to it.

It depends on the length, my 18" is fairly quite but that's good I didn't want anything annoying and drawing attention too much as my truck is stock so it's not fast or anything to look at, and it's very deep and toned which is what I like. If you get yourself a 14" case or go to a racing muffler with as low as a 6" case, it won't be quiet.

well i have factory cats with straight right now and that not loud enough for me. One of my friends had 2.5 from the manifolds back with no cats or mufflers (99 obs), and i used to have highflows and 3 inch true duals on a 5.3. i know the motors are apples and oranges i know but volume wise i would like to be in that range.

Then if you like it that loud, go with a highflow cat and a Dynomax Race Bullet, it'll be as loud as a straight pipe but more tone to it.
