I really dont want to get a new muffler or straight pipe it and headers are out of the budget for right now so how much louder would my truck be if i did a cat delete?

    Re: Cat Delete

I'm curious too. I think I have a plugged cat, and I want to wait to get new ones until I can afford headers. I have about the same setup as Cowboy Silverado, except mines a 5.3 and still has cats. Right now it isn't much louder than stock.

Has anyone done this and saw a decrease in gas mileage or anything? How much louder will it be?

Haha nice. It would be even cooler if they actually made all of those products. I guess they would probably get sued though.

That's lame, i'd totally buy one. What if you have a DeLorean you're trying to make into a Time Machine replica? where you supposed to get one, gotta make it yourself? I'd totally rock a Flux Capacitor in my Mustang.

Oh and don't remove the cat, it flows like a straight pipe and keeps the exhaust from popping and sounding horribly redneck, you'll really regret taking it out. I ran no cat or muffler on my Sierra for a while, just the 2.75" pipe exiting under the cab, what a stupid thing to do that was, tried a 45 degree turndown but didn't help much, then a cheap glasspack with the turndown and it worked until it burned out then it just barely made it quieter, and finally I said enough of the ******ry and got the setup I have now, nice and quiet at idle/crusing but loud enough to get noticed when I hit the throttle, very deep and toned and I have no regrets besides not doing it sooner.

You DO NOT want to do it. I did it with my 97 before I got glasspacks. No cats and glasspacks sound badass but straights like that sound bad. Plus you have the problems with the o2 sensor. Not a good idea

I wouldn't use clamps. Have it welded up right and be done with it. I tried to use that flex pipe on a car I had once as a cheap fix. It leaked and eventually just broke completely. If you have a friend that's good at welding, you should be able to do it cheaper than the cost of clamps and everything.

As far as the sensors, you could:
    1. live with it
    2. use those resistors or whatever to simulate the signal
    3. Have it tuned, and have whoever tunes it turn off the rear oxygen sensors.

Agreed. A good tune will solve most any problems you would have.

Well yeah that's because they're damn good mufflers, you get a cheap glasspack and it'll pop like Rice Crispies.
