I'm looking at a magnaflow muffler for my 07 NNBS Chevrolet Silverado. How will only a new muffler compare to a complete catback system? Also could someone help me with what muffler I would need to get? I don't want my truck to be obnoxiously loud in the cab. I just want to be able to hear it when I get on it. Also, when I'm cruising at about 70 I don't want it to be really loud either... So any suggestion on which one to get?

I have the 3 inch single in/out 18" length case. slight drone on the highway at 70. goes away at 75mph. I would look at getting a 22 inch case length muffler.

i have been lookin in to magnaflows my self. i like their straight threw design units. from my experience, you will always have a louder internal noise in the cab of the vehicle. and at some engine speed, there will be some drone. that being said, i would go with a single in/dual out or dual in dual out unit. im not to experienced with how long the case is. i hope this helps

I have seen several people switch from flowmasters to magnaflow because magna flow dont hammer your ears on the highway. I've been looking at the magna flow #12599 22" case, 3" Dial in/out with the tru-X design for my 98 Z71.I plan on dumping it out the side in front of the wheel.

Oh yeah, Just by replacing the muffler will pretty much only help the sound. Replacing the whole system from the cat back will prolly sound even better and add horsepower/ torque and gas mileage if you can resist your right foot resting on the pedal too hard...

The stock pipes are pretty much like the catback system pipes. Why spend 400 when you can spend 100?

on my OBS they are wimpy lil skinny pipes from the manifold back. They look nothing like some beefy Magnaflow catback system. I was under a NNBS yesterday looking at it's factory setup and it has way better piping than mine from the factory. plus they sound good but quiet.

Hey NEUMANNZZ, what would be the reasoning with going from the 18" case to the 22" case?? would it make it quieter?

I have a single 3" in/out 24' Magnaflow case that's to quiet at idle.Sounds great under load & does drone at high speed (70-75 mph).It used to be much louder but after headers,y-pipe,Mag converter & new 3" pipes it calmed it down a little to much for me.Will be changing it soon.

to get rid of the annoying drone. I would assume it would be just a little quieter overall.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions... Unfortunately my dad has decided that he doesn't want me to do anything to the exhaust yet, so I guess I'm going to have to work on him a bit and persuade him to allow me to do it.
