I have a 97 k1500 with a 5.7 vortec with true duals with just cats with 3 inch chrome tips. I am getting going to be getting my exhaust redone in a few weeks, and I still can't decide on these following things: I do know I want it to be deeper and louder. Also I would like to leave the mufflers off.
-Pipe size- Right now it has stock size all the way back right now. I dont know if i should keep it the same or got to 3 inch?
-Tip size- I was thinking of getting some 18 inch long 4 inch diameter tips, stainless of course. What you guys think?
-Lastly I dont know whether i should put an H pipe in or not?
Do any of you have videos of your own setups?
Thanks for all the help guys

Thanks sounds really nice. Anyone else?
2.5" will be plenty big enough for your setup. 3-3.5" tips are all you really need unless you like the look of the 4" better. I like that your going longer with them though. As for an X or H pipe, that is totally your decision. I do like the sound on most trucks with them on, but some can sound good without them. An X pipe will cost more and an H pipe will basically do the same thing for cheaper.

What does the tips being longer do? Just wondering. Any other exhaust clips would be appreciated. Thanks guys
sorry no sound clips of my currnet set up. but i have heddmen long tube headers, no cats, h pipe, magnaflow DI/DO 18 inch muffler and turn downs. it sounds like sex. deeeeep and loud
That is what i want a loud deep tone.
magnaflow is the way to go then
2.5" pipe is the largest you will want to go with a stock 350.
Whereabouts in Minnesota are you?
08 HHR LS - 2.2 | 5 speed | 30 MPG
98 K1500 Z71 - 204k | L31 | 60E | 3.73's | 3" BL | 33x12.5x15 Dick Cepek F-C II's | Dynomax Ultra Flo X DI/DO | 14 MPG

2.5 duals are good for up to 600 HP i wanna say?
Clara City, Mn
Where abouts is that in MN?
Ok I understand so 4 inch diameter by 18 inch long would make it sound lovely then? I also have another question now. Where do you guys get your tips? Any websites would be nice.
Thanks guys

Yes it would, but you dont NEED to go that big in diameter.
either of these are examples that would work great for you

Why you say that? But what your saying is as long as I get them longer they will change the sound?
Because for gas vehicles the tone wont change much after the diameter gets above 3.5-4in. If you find a deal on 4in, then go for it for sure. But, if you find one on 3in dont be leary of getting those either. The longer tips will change the sound more effectively. 18in like you were considering will be plenty for length.

I'm running a y pipe with one glasspack, no cats, its loud as hell. its kinda deep, but it still sounds pretty good. one the loudest trucks around
See i don't wanna cut the cats off because I've heard the horror stories about the work involved trying to get the engine to run right.
Here are my 3.5" wide and 24" long tips:
Cheap chrome, came on rusted tailpipes when I bought it so I cut them off and jnked the tails and reused the tips. When I make a header-back exhaust i'll get stainless tips, 4"x24" big.
