I am also thinking of doing turndown before rear axle or side exit in front of rear tyre. Would any of these alternatives make any difference in sound?

This is a discussion on anyone with mufflerknowledge? within the Exhaust forums, part of the Performance category; My current setup is 2 3/4" y pipe into 3" single, magnaflow cat, and a muffler from a Sweedish brand ...
My current setup is 2 3/4" y pipe into 3" single, magnaflow cat, and a muffler from a Sweedish brand called Simons (single in, single out) and then splitted into 2 3" tailpipes (one behind each rear tyre)
Everything is 100% stainless.
The sound is OK, but could be louder
I'm keeping the setup exept for the muffler. (9,5" long, 8" X 5" oval straight thru packed)
here is how it looks:
I want loud deep sound, not the crisp "straight pipe-no muffler sound" and preferably no drone.
Does anyone have knowledge about how the different brands/types sounds?

It sounds like you'd like a Spintech and you'll have more drone with either one of those exhaust setups. I would dump it at the bumper
Thanks:)
How is the Borla XR-1 compared to Spintech?
The XR-1 is also nice, it's on the short list of mufflers that I recommend also
where should I place the muffler? right after the cat or further back . My current muffler is placed right in front of the rear tyres.. about 1 meter from the cat.
I would leave it right where it is, if you put it right after the cat that would also make it drone more
thanks ! I'll probably order a XR-1 some time soon:)
Just get a 40flowmaster you cant go wrong, makes a sbc sound like a monster truck.

A Flowmaster would make it much louder I have the same set up as you but my muffler is a Magnaflow it's mellow so I can hear my music.
flowmasters drone bad though, a Borla is going to be pretty loud. I think you would like a Spintech, Cherry Bomb Extreme, Thrush Welded, or Hooker Aerochambers
