    Re: Glasspacks

It comes down to size and what there on for me. A 12 or 14 in on any thing other than a big hp big block sound just like crap. I would run duel 16" or longer with h or x pipe. All glasspacks work on the same bases unless u get the hi end ones.

    Just my 2 cents

What he said, they sound a little better than glasspacks and cost about the same... But if you must run glasspacks, don't go any shorter than 16"

    Re: Glasspacks

I sort of like the glasspack sound, but I wouldn't run anything shorter than a 16". My first vehicle, an 83 Jeep CJ-7 with the I-6, had headers to a dual 18" Thrush glasspacks and it sounded great prior to the glasspacks breaking-in. Once they got some miles on them, it sounded distinctly different in many ways, but still a great sound. That was an I-6 engine though. I tend to not care so much for the cackle under moderate acceleration that glasspacks create behind a V8 engine, but I also might be hearing setups with very short glasspacks. My spare change is that a glasspack or two is still way better than some straight-pipe setup.

    Re: Glasspacks

When I had my 98 yukon I ran a 10'' glasspack. Oddly though it didnt have the crackle pop sound, what i got was a deep rumble to my exhaust lol. I had stock manifolds, stock y pipe with cats and just a glass pack in place of stock muffler. sounded good imo

The longer the glasspack, the more mellow the sound. Depending how much pop you like, I would go as long as you can.

    Re: Glasspacks

i wouldnt recommend anything shorter than a 16 inch. i had 14 inch thrush glasspacks on my truck when i bought it and the crackle was terrible. i got new exhaust as soon as i could. it was obnoxious so if you want glasspacks i would recommend at least getting 16 inch but thrush is a good brand

    Re: Glasspacks

i'm gonna go against the grain here. to hell with glasspacks. spend about the same (maybe a tiny bit more) and get a couple Thrush Welded mufflers. if you can't afford two $35 mufflers then maybe you should just keep your stock exhaust system until you can. just my opinion...

It's pretty much impossible to make a mustang sound bad.

i dunno...you spin 'em to about 10,000 rpm for a few seconds they start to sound pretty rough...

    Re: Glasspacks

I had a 12" Summit Racing glass pack on my truck , it was super loud and it took away alot of torque. I waited until I had enough money to buy my Dynomax S/T and now my torque is back and it sounds good too. Just be carefull on the glass pack case lenght and not go too short.

I always say Borla or bust but since you're balling on a budget I have to agree with joshua here. Heck a set of glass packs will cost you that much more than likely.
