    Re: Y pipe question

I have no clue what size the stock cats are on a van, but I happen to have the stock y pipe and cats off my Silverado 350, and it only has 2" pipe necked up to 2-1/4 into the cats. I also happen to have 3" to 2.5" reducers on hand.

    Reducer under pipe:

So on a silverado, no, even with a welder your couldn't properly make it work. What size are your cats?

I have single exhaust and my cat is 3 inch ,,a 3 inch reducer looks like it would fit on mine but the pipe doesn't look exactly round ,it looks slightly oval shaped, i looked online to buy a aftermarket offroad ypipe but they only have them for surburbans and some others , the guy at Jegs said it wouldn't fit my van without modifications
I would just take it to a muffler shop and have them make me a custom y pipe but i dont think they'll work on it since they would have to remove the hollowed cat

the 3" should fit on the van the only problem you may run into is at the front of the cat you'll want to cut as close to the weld as you can and some times the pipe is'nt exactly round there , they tend to be a little egg shaped. the id of the pipe you're replacing the cat with should be 3" and i belive its also the same for the back side.
