Alright guys I have a 2000 silverado with 4.3 V6. I was thinking the other day that the v6 in my truck really is a pretty good engine. I mean I don't think I would even use the power of V8 the only reason I'd get one is for the sound which is unbeatable. But I figure that I could probably make my little v6 sound pretty good with the right setup. So here is what I was thinking.

magnaflow x-pipe
2 1/4 piping
2 magnaflow mufflers. Probably some smaller mufflers to make a bigger sound

The only question I have is about the catalytic converters. I'm pretty sure I only have one catalytic converter. Would I have to add another? Is that legal in Texas? If not then my idea is gone.

my buddy has a 00 Silverado 4.3 and his sounds just like my 5.3
He left the cat alone and added a single inlet dual outlet 2 chamber Flowmaster with 2 1/2 side pipes behind the wheels
at idle you can't tell if he has a V-6 or V-8 but under acceleration it buzzes a little but Flowmaster is the way to go and if you still want to go louder take the cat off and remove all the inside crap and reinstall as far as being Legal " Well it still has the cat on it"
now when it comes the the sniffer test good luck. Hope that helps.
