Ok, I've got the $$ and ready to get some headers and cat back exhaust or whatever...

I've checked out the Thorley and Gibson headers. Also checked out Gibson exhaust, Magnaflow, and Flowmaster. If I were to create the best system possible on a 98 5.7 ext. cab short, what should I use?

Also, where can I get the best price?

Get the Thorley's and plumb them into the stock cats. The stock cats and "Y" pipe flow good enough for your stock motor. The "Y" pipe accomplishes the same job as an "X" pipe without the added cost and room required for the"X" and two mufflers.
Cut off the stock muffler, leaving the stock "Y" in place and put on a high performance muffler of your choice. A 3" single in/dual 2 1/4" out will work fine. Put the muffler as far back in the truck as you can.
Any good muffler shop can build this system for you for half the price of the mail order stuff, you DON'T pay an additional $75 to $100 bucks for shipping and, if it breaks or needs adjusting, they will take of it.

Thanks. Talked to the folks at Thorley today and he said about the same thing. Just wanted to verify w/ others.

Is $400 good price on Thorleys?
