unless you get a 2500LD with 3.73 gears you wont even get 15mpg. the best i can manage is 13 out of my 2500HD which all 6.0 HD trucks automagically have 4.10 gears. they have common GM problems like transfercase pump rub and knock sensors go bad like its their job.

yeah, assuming it's 4x4 you will not get anywhere close to 20mpg. I brag about the 16.5mpg I get in my '06 ccsb 1500HD. The 4.10s I think have a lot to do with it, but even if it had 3.55s, I truly doubt I would be able to get better then 17.5mpg. BTW the 16.5mpg is with summer gas and temperatures and a good amount of custom tuning on my behalf. Also actually achieved that with 87 octane w/ the lq9, did not see mpg gains with midgrade or premium fuels. I also run 285s, but mpg stayed exactly the same as the 265s. I think the extra weight of the tire is offset by the slight cut in the gear.

Im seeing around 12-14 depending on how I drive. 05 2500HD 4x4 with 4.10s and no preformance mods. If your looking for preformance and mpgs your not looking for a 3/4 ton gasser.

2003 2500hd ECSB here, 13.66 mpg was my last fuel up, no mods and thats 70hwy/30cty. 2" lift and 285's. Planning on getting a programmer soon to see if that helps a little. Also, I bought the truck at the dealership with 116,500 miles a couple weeks ago and they were replacing the knock sensor as we spoke and today they will be replacing the fuel pump because it's faulty as well. No cost to me of course

i had a 2000 2500 4x4 rclb and it got about 12, we never had any mechanical issues with it, got it with 116k and sold it with 130k. dad has an 04 ccsb 2500hd and gets 12, hes at about 112k right now and got it with 80k about 3 years ago, and the only problems hes had is the trans. but that was probably due to pulling 20,000lb + gravity wagons with it. i just got an 03 ecsb 2500hd and im getting about 12, it has 140k on it and no problems other than tie rods.
