check fuel relay on left side of fire wall when standing in front of the vehicle. sounds like your not getting a prime.

Re: 1995 chevy sliverrado 5.7 350 tbi problem

do me something. have someone in you truck with the key off. you- lay under truck with ear close or on the bottom of the fuel tank. have a friend turn the key to the on position. not turning it on. do you hear the fuel pump kick on for a few seconds? yes= not fuel pump relay. no= next step
if it does not prime. start your truck like you mentioned befor. just a little starter fluid works great. if the truck stays running go back to the tank and check for fuel pump operation. if fuel pump does work then it leads me to beleive the relay on the fire wall is bad. replace and check for operation again. if the fuel pump is not working or the truck does not stay running. pull a fuel line off the back of the tbi unit and turn the key on does fuel come out. if so its not the fuel pump.
note. the pump should turn on for 2-5 seconds when key is cycled on. hope this helps.

check power at relay. see if there is constant power. it might be a fuel pump issue.

Re: 1995 chevy sliverrado 5.7 350 tbi problem

when you get the truck running. crawl under the truck and listed to see if the fuel pump is working. when the truck is forced to run it can create a vacuum in the fuel lines keeping the truck running at an idle.
if the pump is working you gonna need to go to your locate napa and get a fuel pressure tester that will fit inline were you fuel filter is at and check pressure. could be mutiple things. the small hose in the tank that hooks to the fuel pump could be loose. could be bad pump. could be short in wiring harness. make sure your harness is not pinched between the frame and the fuel tank. many people dont pay attention to that. could be a bad relay. and yes even though you bought "new" pump and relay. the parts are electrical they may be faulty. could be a bad fuel in the dash. could be a bad connection somewhere. to many things to choose.
like i said next thing is to check fuel pressure. check fuses, check to hear fuel pump noise.

what i said or ment was if you couldnt hear anything remove a line and check for pressure. but considering you say you hear fuel pump working. get a fuel gauge and check the pressure. since our trucks dont have test ports. you have got remove one of the lines off the fuel filter and hook (in line) the tester and check your pressure.

A TBI engine won't create the vacuum needed to pull fuel through the lines, pressure is something like 13psi... anything close to that will be enough for the truck to run. Does it run well enough for a spin around the block? When is the last time your fuel filter was changed?

I was thinking the same thing that Doober suggested...A plugged up fuel filter could be the issue. On mine, I had a issue with the fuel pump connector. Keep that thought as well. New connector for me solved everything.

Put noid light on injectors then try to start. If noid light not flashing, check reluctor wheel in distributor for cracks /corrosion.
