Two week ago i was pulling in the gym parking lot and my truck died like it was out of fuel, after trying to crank it over a few times it started again and it made it about 50 feet and wouldnt start again. I had over half a tank at the time. Had it towed home and changed the distributor cab and rotor with no luck. I also changes the fuel pressure regulator built into the TBI unit with no luck. The injectors are not spitting any fuel but with theTBI unit off i turn on i can hear the pump prime and i have fuel to the TBI. If i poor a little fuel in the bowls and turn it over it runs and then dies. It also sounds like its sucking air not sure if thats nornal? Any help would be appreciated!
Change the fuel pump
Will do
I would put a noid light on the injectors first to make sure they are firing. If you can hear the pump prime, and have fuel, when you attempt to start it, there ought to be some fuel and you aren't seeing any. Also look at ECS.
I changes the relay and pump and filter wit no luck. Pump doesnt prime so i have no power to the fuel pump. Running out of ideas...
Your missing something was the pump ground good? Even with the fuel pump relay unhooked the truck should start it just uses the oil pressure switch to send power to the pump.
The ground was good and i replaced the pump and the filter and the truck fired up and ran for a few minutes then died. It was smoking at idle the last 30 seconds it was running not bad just a little. Now it wont fire at all just turns over. theres fuel in the bowls. I replaced the distributor and rotor a week ago is it possible i messed up the timing? All i did was take the cap off, pop the rotor opp and put it all back togerther.
probably didnt mess up the timing with just the cap and rotor change. you say you dont get any power to the pump when you turn the key? checked with a meter?
ensure the clips on top of the injectors are secure

If no fuel is coming out of injectors, check your ECM fuses and electrical connections. If ECM fuses are blown or ECM is bad, injectors will not fire. Have you done anything to the wiring under the hood or in the dash?
There is no such thing as too much horsepower, as long as you can put it to the ground!!
