whats the difference between close and wide ratio and rear locker differnentals comapired to limmited slip, what does all that mean
Close ratio gears means they are numerically close together, wide ratio means they are numerically further apart. Not really going to matter as the applciations you are looking at don't really have much variance.
The second part of your question pertains to axle differentials. A locker physically locks the rear axles shafts to be driven at the same speed under torque application. A limited slip limits the potential speed difference between the axles shafts, usually via a rebuildable clutch pack.
thanks for the info so 1 more question.................for now. b4 i go manual trans i'm gunna put an auto floor shifter in so we can use the same hole for the manual shifter if room permits. but when i do that does it mean i could go back and forth as i pleans with just the switch of a tranny and shifter?
Depends if your other thread regarding carb or TBI has been resolved yet.
Swapping transmissions in and out isn't a willy nilly affair, and you may be scrambling to find adaptive parts, especially to mate them to your transfer case. Clutch mounting and hydraulic vs cable actuation needs to be considered too...
Choose between manual or auto, then choose a transmission, them come up with a parts list and do it right, do it once.
hmm how does the transmission relate to the TBI problem?
