    Re: No reverse

Ok I'll start. After my rebuild I had reverse for awhile intill i put a load on it (backing up a small grade) and reverse went out. I search'd around the net and found if you unplug the TPS this will raise the line presure. I think it might be line presure. no Good didn't help I'll wait for my presure tester to come and try to trouble shoot the problem I'll keep u posted This might help someone else......

    Re: No reverse

I would first pull the pan and make sure the boost valve snap ring is secure there is a parrt of the casting in the pump which looks like the groove and its gets mistaken for the snap ring groove often....also the ring may have not been seated. check the 3 8mm head bolts at the rear of the case on the plate make sure they are tight. if it all of a sudden lost it i am betting on boost valve unseated

    Re: No reverse

Thanks transbuilder. I was hoping for your reply. If I remember right I didn't like the way the boost valve went in. I took it back out and notice i hurt one of the O rings I replaced it with one I didn't use from the kit, It was pretty close. I will also check the 8mm bolts. when I drop the pan I hope its going to be this easy. thanks again I'll post the results.

    Re: No reverse

if you didnt use the exact O ring that came with the valve I will bet the O ring got shredded. pull the boost and check it i am sure you will find your problems there.

    Re: No reverse

Before I drop the pan I took some presure readings, this is what I have. With the trans warm At Idle 65psi, In Drive 65psi In reverse 50psi. I went for a short drive and went through the gears The presure builds to about 100psi then drops to 85psi when the tranny shifts. In a short drive it will cruz at around 80psi. Going through the gears the tranny shifts normal no hard shifting. When I put it in Reverse the presure will go to 50psi I can rev it a little bit and the presure will build. It will go as high as I rev it if I want still with no movement in reverse. OK do you still think Its the boost valve. I hope so thanks for your replys Joe.........

    Re: No reverse

I did some research on the presure readings and found that When in Reverse Boost valve should apply somwhere between 65- 100psi in reverse standing still. I will drop the pan now to inspect the Valve. I'm glad I waited for the gauge to see what kind of presure I Had, I'll follow up with results....

    Re: No reverse

Ok transguy was right again. I dropped the pan, and on the bottom was the Eclip for the Boost valve. I found a better clip installed it and reverse gear was back. Presure went to 100psi and back to 85psi when engaged in reverse Im glad it was a easy fix. I do think by using a presure gauge is helpful tool, I think with more use it can be very helpful thanks again for your help everybody.Transguy next time im in Florida I owe you Dinner.
