well to start it off, i'm an unemployed mechanical engineer (michigan sucks for jobs) at the moment looking for a job, so i've got some time on my hands for the build, which is nice.

    now my plans.
bag, sfbd, 22s in the front, 24s in the back.

EDC, 12 gallon tank, 3/8 smc valves, RE-7 bags, 10" notch, triangulated four link.

once the bagging's done, start on a sfbd.

when the bd's done, start sheet metaling my bed, shaved doors, rear skin combo.

all of my bag stuff is ordered, mostly from suicidedoors, but a couple things from FBI. i'm waiting on my bags, valves, tank, four link, and a few small things.

and now for what you all want to see...

what the truck was to start

my new cab corners. the old ones were bad

    my shaved cab seams

    one shaved door and antenna

    my mounted york.

my notched lower control arm. i went a little much on these guys, but better too much than too little.

got my 10" notch welded in. damn that things huge.

my shiny new fuel cell since i've gotta ditch my stock for my four link.

took off my rear suspension components

    my stripped rear end.

my front end ready for bags. unfortunately i removed where the shock bolts in cuz i didn't realize that nut welded in my upper bag cup was supposed to go through there to secure it. oh well, i hear floating cups work fine.

that's it for now. i have some miscellaneous static drop components for sale if anybody's interested, they'll be in the for sale section.

    more to come soon

Damn. Your not fuc kin around at all! Looks like you do some fantastic work. Sucks to hear about the jobs, but hopefully you can find one soon. Would be terrible to sink all this money into a truck and be broke as hell and have to sell it.

Do you have a blow-through or why is the back of the cab missing a large hunk of oval sheetmetal (or so it appears)?

that sucks on the job deal, judging by your age you just graduated. Where and How much did the fuel cell run you? Its for EFI right

Re: drpd93's bag and sfbd build

yeah, i've got some time, and i'd like to take my time and build it right.

that was a blow through. it was my first i was messing around with. built it horribly though. i had 4 elemental designs 12's with a mtx 1501d on it. i'm not sure if i'm gonna keep it, the cab and bed hole won't line up after the bd, which sucks. i'd like to do a fi audio 18" btl, like i saw a guy on here has, that'd be intense.

yeah, i just graduated school this may, i don't think i'll get that tight for money. i'll sell one of my other toys first if i do.

the fuel cell was 230 from summit. i need to get an inline pump for it too, but i hear those are only like $20.

and a quick question for anybody that might know... is the coolant overflow tank really needed? it'd be nice to ditch it altogether.

it will be a fun project, i did mine last winter. +1 for a fellow engr.

Check ebay for a billet overflow tank. Mine is like a 2" dia cylinder probably 16" tall. I tucked it up front next to the radiator. It was about 30 bucks.

Also for your upper spring pocket I'd suggest opening that hole up all the way and just bringing your cup up flush with the top of the frame, then welding it in. Then you can access bag bolts/fitting through the top.

Re: drpd93's bag and sfbd build

    thanks for the encouragement guys.

i'm in ithaca. it's about 45 min north of lansing.

    a little progress today

hacked off about 8" of the frame, welded in some 1x2, then ran 1x1 across to hold the tank. hopefully i don't need to take it out for any reason, it's welded in.

mounted my fuel cell, again, ran 1x1 across, and then made some straps out of sheet metal, glued some rubber to it, works like a charm.

another shot of the fuel cell/air tank

and an underneath shot. i think it'd hang below the roll pan w/o a body drop, but i'm not sure. luckily a bd is on the way too.

i also got in my four link today. got the outside bars mounted up.

    that's it for today.

tomorrow i hope to get my inner four link bars welded up, my bridge welded in, and probably trim some of those brackets off the axle.
