It's not the heat. It's the humidity. It was 77 and cloudy this morning and it was so humid I was sweating within 5 minutes.

    New parts today!

My cousin is parting out his '95 Yukon. Since I'm family, I got first dibs on freebie parts, so I took the GMC grille shell and rear bumper and then got a bonus when I noticed the working reel light.

    Re: 1badgmc's Suburban Thread

i love those reel lights! i got one in my bed right now. ive been wanting to get a bright floor led for it! i have a led flood light now that i wanna put in it.
when i took mine from junk yard i got about 3-5ft of wiring with it to make it easier to wire in.

on a side note is the grill tan or pewter? i wish i could find a tan gmc grill for my truck instead of having to paint mine to match! my junk yard has only had one matching truck that was gmc and someone beat me to the grill

Yep. I need to get the grille painted and I'm thinking of sanding the bumper and chrome ring into a satin look. I'm also leaning toward a black powdercoated billet insert.

The one that came on my '91 never worked. My '94 didn't come with one. But now my Suburban can have a working one.

It's tan. Same color as your truck, so I have to paint it pewter.

Nice score! I love those reel lights too, my 88 came with one, and my dad liked it so much he added one to his jeep. I actually have two spares floating around, plan to add one to the yellow truck eventually.

Yeah, somewhat. Beyond the idea of the brushed look on the chrome ring, I'm also considering either painting the ring black or a dark gray for a little different touch. I've been tossing around the idea of a 30-bar or a tight-spaced insert with the chrome ring. I just want to try something I've never done before and something that's not seen all the time. It's a bit of a gamble, but I can picture it and I think it'll work out. If not, I can always pull it and go with a normal polished insert or a 30-bar.

    Re: 1badgmc's Suburban Thread

ya main thing i dont like about my 30bar grill is those top rivets! you can see them thru the gap kinda bad design IMO! they should have made a simple L bracket to move the top mounting points further back another half inch or so to be hidden! at least thats what id like to do for mine when i do paint my grill to match. should be cheap and easy with some simple tiny pieces of aluminum L brackets.
i think a color matched ring would be nice. im just not feelin the idea of black ring on pewter/tan truck.... tho i have thought about getting another gmc grill and keeping the chrome ring as reusing my same grill, but just not sure. wish i knew how to do photochop then i could always chop it to see what it would look like before hand :)

    Re: 1badgmc's Suburban Thread

I'm thinking about the black ring because I'm sort of trying to go with a black trim idea on this thing. I'm going to black out the side mouldings and I'm thinking about black b-pillars like I had on my Yukon as well. Just with the way it's designed, I'm not huge on color matched rings. They just look like they should be a different color.

Oh yeah. I'm not just slapping some off-color crap on the front of the thing. I'm thinking of the whole package here.

The weather was really nice yesterday (finally!!) so I got out and swapped the rear bumper. It's nice to have a straight bumper on it now.
