I have a 1997 c1500 5.0L ext. cab, this truck was bought brand new off the lot in 96 by my dad. Ever since I started thinking about cars (11-12 yrs old) this truck has been my "dream" vehicle, if you will. Always thinking about what Id like to do with it, what kind of power I would like it to be putting out. Daydreams. Always daydreams, finally I have gotten to a point where i can get some **** done so I am going to use this thread as a rebuild progress report.
So. Here is my truck as it sits outside as of Jul. 9 2010
So, with the exception of MSD cap rotor and 8.5mm wires and the K&N air filter this truck is pretty much bone stock from the factory 15 years ago. I have all of the parts to rebuild my front end, suspension, brakes and i got some nice new tires(half the size on the sidewall compared to current tires). so by the end of next week i sholud be riding around with a nice new suspension, 10x better handling and a nice 5/7 drop.
will be updating as i get the opportunity to do so.

setbacks setbacks setbacks. story of my life.

Tires.
w/o the drop they look rather silly methinks

So its been a while, but I have made some progress. Got the 2/4 drop completed, all new suspension, front end and brakes installed.
Ill get pictures up sometime soon. Unfortunately the tires i got still look silly after the drop. So I am looking into new rims and tires,
I have found some 2010 camaro wheels for a great price and i was wondering if anyone could tell me if those would fit my 97 c1500.
since its not a local sale, im worried ill end up getting something that isnt going to fit. and that would be a problem to say the least.
any help greatly appreciated. thanks
The bolt pattern would be the same. the offset on the other hand wouldnt work i believe
hmm. excuse the rudimentary questions, as i am by no means an expert on this, but is there any way to compensate for the offset? i would really like to have these wheels on my truck but if theres no way to do it without spending thousands of dollars ill move on and find something else.
wheel spacers, but then the wheel would stick out. I am not sure but i would think the offset would be bad but i could be wrong.
alright then. got some pics of the truck post drop finally.
Got tired of hearing the end of my stock exhasut scraping the ground so a few friends helped me out and got the exhaust trimmed back a little. MUCH cleaner looking too in my own opinion.
I will get some more pics when i get the chance. so far its been up on the curb every time.
Oh yea, and just to make some of your mouths water. 2 days injection marinated and 24 hours of smoking in the grill. (18hrs oak/6 hrs mesquite)
