Hey guys, registered to the forum a long time ago and forgot, but I see what kindof great things forums have to offer so I think I'm gonna become active... but anyways. My name is Joe, and I drive an 85 C10. It's my first vehicle that I purchased about a year ago. Bought in very good condition for 25 years old, but still makes a good project for someone like myself who is either working or sleeping. It has:

    Goodwrench 350 w/:
Edelbrock Carb Intake Manifold and Cam
    Heddman Headers
    Mallory Red Top Dist. (HEI)
Flowmaster Super 40's dumped at rear axle (no cats, true duals and straight pipes)

Transmission is a Rebuilt 700r4 with a shift kit and mild stahl converter.

First picture is from the time I bought it, second picture is most recent.

    and ofcourse, the motor...

not bad for a first vehicle eh?

    Re: Layla: My 85 C10

I would really really like to do build a 383 shortblock motor, or do a 454 swap. I would also like to change from the 700r4 to a T56 or a Muncie M22. I would like to keep a decent amount of speed and acceleration but also be able to carry/pull a lot of weight so I'm going for a hauling/performance mix. Right now I'm doing some suspension work, I have Tuff Country Nitro Gas Shocks in the mail currently, and I'm going to be ordering 3500 lb. helper springs for the back and Front and Rear Sway Bars.

    looks pretty good.

I like the way it looks now alot better except the wheels, if they are rallys I like the trim rings on them too not just the centers, but if you like it then it's all good. Not found on painted wheels for me on stock rallys I like em silver, or I guess black is ok, not fond on body bolor ones.

I like the fact it's heat only, carb'd and edelbrock at that, headers, no smog junk, it really cleans it up underhood.

2 or 4 wheel drive? I assume its 2 but you know what happens when you assume. Long bed? Try to find a ls motor swap doner vehicle. Nice power and the option or manula or auto.

    Re: Layla: My 85 C10

hey guys thanks! Speedjunkie: truck is 2wd. c's, (as in c10, c20, and c30) were all 2wd. K's, (as in k10 etc...) were 4wd. an LS motor would be awesome. not a bad idea at all. Swims: yes, theyre rally wheels that came with the trim rings. I love the rally wheels. I think they just look awesome. Personally, I like them better black w/o trim rings. but if I had kept them silver then I would def still have the trim rings on. its just a rattle can spray job so if I ever wanted to go back it wouldnt be that hard.

Definitely have a solid base to work from. When I was fixin' up my 77 I wish mine was that solid. It would have saved me a LOT of time and money when doing the build.

yeah I would agree 07burb. its very solid. the usual rust spot is there, passenger side on the bed above and behind the wheel well as you get closer to the tail section of the truck. currently looking for a good condition bed panel tailgate and front bed panel.

    Re: Layla: My 85 C10

hey guys just thought I would give ya'll a quick update. I've recently changed out the front shocks to Tuff Country Nitro Gas Shocks, rear shocks of the same brand are currently in the mail and my 1-3/8 inch sway bar should be arriving today aswell! I'm very excited to put these two things on. Should change the handling a lot. I noticed a large difference upgrading the front shocks already so who knows what the rear shocks and new sway bar will do. Next comes wheels and tires and maybe a small lowering kit. probably a 2/3 lower. I would like to go with the Crager D-Window wheels and a nice set of street tires. Just haven't decided on the tires yet. I would like to go as wide as possible but I'm not sure how wide I can go just yet.
