thanks i like it. i might do the heims someday when im feeling ocd about where the shift is on the floor. but the one i made shifts just fine cause i still have the little rubber insert which allows for movement.

I just now noticed. I'm not sure what that cable is on yours. I know mine is 94 but our tranys should be the same. I have a 4l60. I also noticed the little wires you ran with the but connectors. Is that for the 4 wheel drive engage light? Now I'm going to have to lay under my truck and figure it out lol

yea the wires with the connectors are for the 4lo mod. so the shifts change automatically when 4lo is engaged. i dont have the lights plugged in on the shifter. im not quite sure about the cable but mine goes to the side of the transmission. it doesnt look like you have the connector on your tc plugged in on the second pic...

So maybe your tv cable is on that side. And I didn't know about a mod for 4lo. I believe the plug on mine to to light up the bulbs to say its engaged. But you have me really scratching my head now lol

I don't know what a tv cable is... But the 4lo mod is for us kids that had electric transfer cases so that the shift points change. I'm sure the more we think about this the more we will get confused. Lol

    Re: norcal4x4's sas adventure

Not sure what you guys are seeing, but maybe I can help? There is no tv cable for 4L60E's, which was first used in 1/2 tons in late 1991 to 1992. My 1991 with 700r4 has a tv cable, it's basically just a mechanical throttle position "sensor" for the trans so it can adjust fluid pressure and shift RPM accordingly. Its near the front passenger corner of the trans. The 4L60E uses the ECM and it's TPS for the same info.

The 4lo mod is for telling the 4L60E to use a separate set of rpm's/mph's for shift points while in 4lo. The factory setup did this, but it usually gets affected with other SAS or t-case mods. Trucks with transmissions that have a tv cable do not have this feature, just FYI.

    Re: norcal4x4's sas adventure

Okay thanks Jayb1rd. If you look back on his posted pic there is a cable or hose on the driver side of the transmission and there isn't one on mine. Also on mine you can see a plug not plugged in but I have the np241 so it's not the electric t-case

    Re: norcal4x4's sas adventure

Now that I'm home I can see the pics better haha.

The cable on the left of norcal's trans looks like the trans shifter. I'd have to crawl under my dads plow truck to make 100% sure tho.

And I recognize the plug on your truck too Solid, my truck has the same t case and plug, I think it's the 4wd actuator/indicator light plug. Again, no Chevy trucks at this house, I'd have to go to the barn to see for sure.

Y'all are making me wish I could work on my truck!

then i will start my hunt for an early bronco front driveshaft which will fit perfectly.
You find driveshaft yet? You must hunt like ninja masta.....

What kind of total length are you looking at with shaft+yoke? Wondering if it would work the same for NBS.

No I havent found one yet. Havent been looking either. But I am betting that whatever one I use will work on a nbs with the same tranny. Right now I have a bad bearing in the rear axle which I don't feel like dealing with at the moment.

So I am thinking of doing a sf 14 bolt swap and selling the locker and gears of the 10 bolt. We will see with the stupid problems.

    Re: norcal4x4's sas adventure

so today i took out the rear, disassembled it and cut off the sway bar mounts to use on the 14 bolt which i will get in bout two weeks. going to get a 6lug 14 bolt sf with 4.10's. gonna keep with drum brakes for the time being might do a disc swap in the future who knows. so here are some pics...

    yesterday

    today

i think i know why the passengers side would like to move around a lot. stud completely sheared off. luckily i have 4" blocks laying around.

    mounts cut

to get the T in the rear brakes to stop/not leak when taking out the rear i found two bolts of the same thread put some plumbers tape on them and screwed em in. works perfectly.

going to put the gears and locker up for sale in a bit need to order a new pin and spring kit for the lockright. i damaged couple of the springs getting it out.

Nice! Have you found the sf 14? I heard they are hard to find. We tried finding one for my girls truck and didn't have much luck

Have you tried Craigslist? Got mine for $125 off there. I also got the 4.10 gears. Going to get a 2000 Ram Dana 44 with 4.09's to match very soon.

theres quite a few in the bay actually. i found one... now i just need the funds to buy it. lol i have my eye on one down in watsonville at a parts dismantler for $600 has 4.10's, 165,000 miles on it, a posi, and a "grade a" which means everything should be spick n span.

cl around here most are all 8 lug sf/ff for that price. 6 lugs start around 300 with "unknown" ratios half the time. good luck with your axle hunt though.

Thanks. Its almost like there's something magical about the 9.5's, like they're made with fairy dust and unicorn blood. I guess just because there were more 8 lugs made than 6?
