Ok, what's all involved in laying out on the frame on a OBS Ext-cab? I have been reading some post now that says you have to cut the cab a little for the drive shaft?? I just need to know what all it takes..like notching for tie rods, step notch....ect. ect. Can somebody make a list or something?.. I will hopefully be bagging my truck soon and i don't want to run into any problems, but if I have to hack up my daily driven truck to much just to get it to lay frame, then I just might nix the idea of bags.

Ok in your second pic are you talking about trimming where the LCA folds up into there? I think you are but it's hard to tell if you have cut it or not. Also did you trim the rain gutters a little on the very ends?? It looks like you did, or am I seeing things?
In the 2nd pic, you can see where the piece of frame hit the lca's, and put a small gash in them. Thats what you gotta trim.
The piece of the lca that is ground down a little is due to draggin. lol

hey kyle
what did you use to trim your front LCA mount?
i was tryin to do it with a cut off wheel, and i didnt have enough room.
This is my chitty sig!
I just ground it with a die grinderOriginally Posted by Smithers

I used a cut-off wheel to do the the lca mounts on the last truck worked pretty well for me.
hey, be careful when you notch the gas tank crossmember since it does support a lot. Be sure to reenforce it if you have to take out a lot, or you might risk it breaking when you hit the bags up b/c of the force. I just made a new crossmember, but if you want to keep your stock gas tank i would just weld in a brace. good luck. peace
hey static, how did you keep your front sway bar and still lay frame? I had to leave mine off b/c it hit the frame and steering linkage and wouldnt let me lay out.
i used a sawzall for my LCA notch.. it was mighty quick.
dont forget to cut the bed for tire clearance as well.

Mine didnt hit anything. It's 100% stock, untrimmed. I can prolly lay on 22's, and it wont bind up. Guy I know put an aftermarket sway bar on his, and it was about 1/2" narrower than mine, and hit his frame.Originally Posted by rhinoman
