I have a 99 Z71 with a set of 22's wrapped in 305/40/22. I pull a trailer from time to time so with that in mind all I am trying to accomplish is a 1"1/2-2" wheel gap between the top of the tire and the bottom of the wheel well. The space currently is 5" in the front and 6" in the rear. From what I read earlier this can be obtained with a 3" torsion key and a flip kit and or removing the factory lift block. Am I correct, and are the keys something I have to buy or do I go to a local 4x4 shop and have them do it for me or do I have to buy them from a dealer. Hope my ?'s aren’t to stupid, but I am totally ignorant when it some to suspension. the answers to my ?'s are probably within the forum but there is to much to read to find it so any help or point in the right direction will be greatly appriceated.

I'm on a 2.5/4.25 drop with my '02 z71. I did 2" drop shackles and took out the lift block (2.25") and torsion keys up front. The front end feels pretty squishy after lowering with the torsion keys, so I'm going to get McGaughy's spindles in the spring. Check the spacing between the axle and the frame...you may need a c-notch to go that low if you still want to tow/haul anything significant. You have to buy the torsion keys - but if you went with spindles (2") you could do the final inch of drop using the stock keys. I installed everything myself and got all the parts from www.streetbeatcustoms.com but there are other choices as well.

edit - in my sig pic it is only a 0/2 drop.

i would not suggest torsion keys at all. i have a nbs z71 4wd i went with my stock keys loosened all the way for about 2 months. bad idea. your stock control arms sit on your bumpstops in the front creating a terrible ride. i got djm 3 inch 4wd control arms and loosened my stock keys halfway. right now im sitting about 1 inch above the tire in the front. i would highly suggest those arms or spindles. with doetch tech shocks my truck drives like a dream and someday soon i will have the matching upper arms for proper alignment. mine is close right now but with the arms and torsion keys the top of my tires point in a little more than they should

I did mine with 2" shackels in back and taking out the lift blocks, droped the front by looseing up the stock keys all the way. With my stock tires my truck sets at 34" to the top of the finders all the way around.
I think it rides fine but i did come from 1 ton trucks to the half ton.. I haul a 16' trailer with atv on it alot so i put some cheap air shocks on the back to help with that end of it and have had no issuse what so ever..

now i just have to get some new wheels and tires
