i have a 4 inch drop on the back of my 01 sierra. after doing the shackles and hangers i was constantly hitting the bump stops so i put on belltech helper bags. the bags virtually elimnated the bottoming out and made my truck completely usuable again. i have a few questions. Now that i installed the bags my truck has the raked look again. Could i throw on a 3 inch hanger to yield a 5 inch drop? my concerns are-will i be ok with driveshaft length, and will going an extra inch effect my bags? i believe that my bags arent even for lowered applications. they are just "belltech air bags for non c notched frames"

Let me know what you come up with. I currently have shackles/hangers on my 02 and have them set on 3" drop. I was thinking about going down to 4" but may not if it will bottom out constantly.
Did you trim the bumpstops?

i have little shorty bump stops on my truck right now. Before I had the helper bags I used to bottom out constantly even with the shorty bump stops. Now i just keep my bags at 10 psi or 15-20 if im gonna tow and i almost never ever hit the stops. I maybe hit the stops once a month at most and its my daily driver. I have ran a single axle car trailer which i set up for dirtbikes along with an additional dirtbike in the bed of my truck with the bags at 15 psi and its rides amazingly. Thats why i was wondering if i might be able to sqeeze an extra inch out of it to go to a 5 inch drop. I know theres enough room to do it between the axle and the bump stops, Im just concerned about my transmission etc and my driveshaft length. I know that when you go to a 6 inch drop, the flip kit adjusts the axles position to correct for the new driveshaft angle and length.
I have a 4 inch drop in the back and I have no notch, I hit the bump stop once and a while, but not that much. I will probably do a c notch cause i'm gonna maybe tow with it, plus I may go one inch lower as well. I think the way to do it is 3 inch leafsprings. and put your stock hanger back on. I know a couple guys have that set up on here.
do they make a 3 inch shackle i could replace my two inch shackles with to get a 5 inch drop??
i don't think, any more length add to the shackle and it's going into you bedOriginally Posted by superx1965
