for the life of me, i cannot get lower balljoint to seperate from the spindle. i've whaled on it for a couple hours with a bfh, heated up the spindle, jacked up the lower control arm and dropped it on another jack, and finally resorted to the fork and go ahead and replace the bj. even with the fork, i cannot get it to seperate. any thoughts, hints, suggestions?

    Try this:

All you have to do is hold the bolt and tighten the nut down and it should force it a part. Use proper protection.

Use a bigger hammer or borrow a ball joint removal kit.

1- i'm going to get a bigger hammer today...
2- is there another type of balljoint removal kit besides a pickle fork? if so, is it one that an Autozone/Orieleys/Napa would rent out?

couple things that may sound like dumb questions, sorry if they do...

    1. is it a 4x4? if so the axle must come out first.

    2. are you hitting the spindle where the balljoint goes thru?
