I just bought a 91 gmc 2wd rcsb. I like the look of a 4/6 drop but can it still be a truck? Will I be able to put 800lbs in the bed and go down the road? If not whats the lowest i can go but still haul the weight of sheet rock lumber atv or whatever else lands in it?

With helper bags you can do whatever you want.

thats what i was thinking was adding helper bags. Ive searched all over this site to find a 4/6 all in one box but it seems alot of guys piece them together. I was thinking 2" spindles and 2" springs. flipkit with the westcoast c-notch. it looks stronger than some other designs ive seen. what idk is do i need shims for an alignment and pinion angle?

i would just take it to get aligned. most shops will do it for like 50 bucks, at least thats the going rate around here.

for the rear i myself wish i had bought belltech instead of djm just cause the install instructions are sweet on the belltech and the djm is just a joke IMO!
if you dont mind trimming the front lower control arms then DJM spindles is the way to go if ya got stock 15s cause the belltechs push the wheels out some.
and yes haul away anything youd normally do. the only thing id like to swap out on the rear right now is the djm notches. i want to do some custom bolt in notches to lift it to the beds floor and give me afew more inches travel cause right now even with 4/6 and helpers with 20psi in them it can hit the djm bolt in notches on axle/frame. i know i can make my own now that i have a cheap plasma cutter to play with cutting steel ALOT EASIER! ;)

From what I've read that brand isn't great.... this is your suspension very major parts. Don't cheap out! And with a 6inch flip you only have afew inches on extended cab trucks. Tho regular cab trucks I think have more travel I believe. But helper bags are a huge help!

I didnt think the western parts where cheap just from what i was reading on here. Ppl seem to like them. But I could look into DJM to alot of ppl use them. I'll do some searching see if they have good spindles or cant clear a stock 15 wheel. what kit is in your truck all djm part?

I am fully bagged out back but helper bags will allow you do the same thing. Toung weight was probably 1500-2000 lbs atleast with the trailer weighing 10,000ish. Like everyone said if you do it right and add helper bags you can do anything with a lowered truck aside from offroading thorugh deep holes.

Re: can it still be a truck with a 4/6?

My truck was all djm. I just didn't care for the rear flipkit since the pinion angle is not addressed good enough for me. The belltech kit uses shims an just looks way more fool proof for the novice/beginer do it yourselfer.
But some people like it. I would just definatly get djm spindles to keep the wheels tuckin in just like stock since I've heard the belltechs push them out to clear the lca rain guters.

Don't confuse Western Chassis with Chassis Tech. A lot of people do. Western Chassis is good stuff. There's nothing at all wrong with them.

Chassis Tech on the other hand...

I believe they keep the stock track like DJM spindles.

I see some guys are using 67 impala shocks on the rear. What about the front? I want a smooth ride not rough and bouncy. Any suggestions on where to buy the western as a complete 4/6 kit. I keep finding it in pieces here and there?

If you want a more OEM shock with your drop, you can use ~'98 Dakota shocks for the front and ~'92 Cherokee Sport shocks for the rear.

Re: can it still be a truck with a 4/6?

Well for my truckthe sugested summitracing shocks where wrong. At least on my truck but that might be sagging leaf spring or whatnot. But best way to get perfect fitment is do some homework after you put on all drop parts and measure for shocks. Its not as hard as it sounds. Just put weight on the wheels for ride height and measure mount to mount. Then check summits shocks sizes and do basic math to find the closest to the middle measurement of the shock for ride height. Worked great for my truck! The fronts where good as recomended by this site, but my rears needed to be longer. I only had afew inches travel till the shock was at its max reach which made it ride ruffer. I realized it when I was under the truck and the shocks rod only had like 1-2inches max shiny still the rest was rusty so that's all the travel it had.

All it takes is a bit of time on Monroe's web site and you can find a shock that has the top and bottom mount you need in a length that better suits your needs.
