I decided to rid my truck of the 2in rear block today and dropped the front keys pretty much as low as they go. I really like the results. The rearend still sits 1.5in higher than the front...I'm not too worried :) Let me know what ya think

same way he did... take out the block and de crank the keys

If I take the blocks out dont I need new u-bolts bc the threadss aren't long enough or something?.. I think my bars are cranked up n the front a little bit from how I had it setup in the past. But im changing everything
That looks great. I would consider a 1" drop shackle to cut the rake a little.
sry not trying to thread jack but it looks great.. Trying to see mine like this

I thought the same thing and then removed the shackles :)I think it looks like a 2wd I don't really get the lowering it and making it less offroadable and then still having the shackles in the front...kind of two different worlds there.
My truck is a street queen...I know that may offend some with 4wd, but the thing has never been offroad (since I've owned it)- I use the 4wd only in the winter. My brother has a 99 blazer, dana 60 rear, 44 fronts, and 37s....ill go play with him if I need to throw some mud...or climb over an old car :)

I agree :) Maybe when the bed is off it this weekend I'll add oneThat looks great. I would consider a 1" drop shackle to cut the rake a little.
I think it looks really good! I want to drop my '04 Z-71 2"/4". Like you, my truck hasn't ever been in the mud. I have a '96 Bronco with a 351W, lockers, & 33"s for that stuff.
Adjustable (1 or 2 inch) drop shackle is going in tomorrow. I'll keep you posted on the look.
well, a couple hours, an air hammer, a 12lb sledge (named thor), a snap-on impact (named Buster) and a whole lot of PB-blaster and the old shackles came out. I think its safe to say they dropped the rear of the truck at least an inch, if not 1.5inches. I have yet to take measrements of the actual drop, but I dont think its a true 2 inches....but it does look a LOT better :)
No pics yet, but I'll get some soon :)
PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN lol... Im waiting to see this and make a decision whether or not to copy you man lets go!!

First i really like the way it looks now. I wanna do the same thing on me 2000 silverado z71 what size are the wheels you have? Do they rub at all? How is your ride since the decranking and all? Did you use Keys or just decranked it?

I highly recommend doing this. The previous owner de-blocked the rear of my truck and I took it the next step further with the 2 inch drop shackle. My stock shackles didn't put up much of a fight but removing the bed to access them and do the work was necessary. After the rear was 4 inches lower, the truck looked nearly level with maybe a 1/2 inch higher ride height in the front. I have the HD torsion keys to swap in for a 2 inch front drop but at this point in time I simply decranked the front to put just a little rake back in and see how I like it. So far, I'm loving it.
Like others here have said, my truck is a daily driver that I never intend to use for things an ATV can do better and being a hobby detailer, I don't much care for cleaning mud off of a large truck. So I wanted a street look with the handling to match and am very happy that I went this direction. I'd say the push button 4WD on my truck gets used a couple times a year. I could use it a lot more but I'm the type that likes to let the rear dance a bit in the snow around the corners. I use 4WD to get me rolling from a stop and after that I put it right back into 2wd and carry on.

Heres some pics. The way the truck is sitting right now (slight slope in the pics) both front fender heights are a tick below 34inches. The drivers side rear is 34.75in and the pass. side is 34. I'm certain on level ground this baby will sit almost perfectly level, therefore, the 2in drop shackles really only gave me 1.5 in- which is fine with me :) please excuse the morning dew :)
