So I was thinking about a flip kit on the rear, but using a .5" lift shackle as opposed to my 4" drop job thats on there now for a 5.5" rear drop and a 1" coil in addition to my 2" spindles in the front. The truck has just a hair under 500tq and over 450hp so I would like to keep the frame as is and not cut anything but the bump stops if at all possible. Or if someone can convince me that it isn't an issue with a professionally done notch and lots of power, I would love to to a full 6" drop in the rear.
Lots of guys tow with a notched frame, if you're really concerned, box and notch the frame, it will be fine. You don't want to run any more than 4" of drop in the rear without a notch. Are you sure it's 4" drop with just a shackle? I'm pretty sure they don't make a shackle that tall, I think it would hit the bottom of the bed. I'd say notch it, do the 4/6 and giv'r hell, you're not the first one to slame one of these trucks and make a lot of HP :P

If you're already at 4 and looking for a little more rear drop, you could take out of the overload spring. With the drop and no notch, you will hit the bump stops before the overload would come into play anyways. (It would lower the back the width of the spring, in my case it was exactly enough to put my fenders perfectly level). That would give you about a 2/4.5, add the 1" coils and you've got a slight rake on a pretty low truck.

You're not running a big block engine are you? That will contribute to the drop

Sorry I meant hangers and shackles, it's definitely a 2/4. So basically as long as I get the kit I would obviously need stock height hangers and shackles and just go for it with the notch? As for the front, can I just get some 2" coils and throw those on in addition to my spindles? Thanks for the help man

coils and spindles are an easy way to lower the truck. Do a notch and stock shackles or maybe 2" shackles in the rear.

Nice to see so many versions of dropped rides on here. I got a good idea of ride height by the examples poste here. Glad to be apart of the forum. I'll be uploading pics of my 2 Door 2 Wheel Tahoe very soon.
