Hi, I have searched everywhere but I can't find any specs other than horesepower and torque on my 305 V8. I have a 1991 Chevy 1500 2WD with a 5.0L 305 with TBI. I was wondering the specs on my engine. Everything is stock and I was wondering what the bore is and what the best bolt on mods are. I was alson wondering what transmission is in my truck, it is a 4 speed auto but was wondering what model. Any sites or anything that would be helpful would be appreciated. Thanks

You're right on the bore but the tranny is a 700R4.

Hes right. The 4l60e wasnt available till like 94 or 95(not sure which year.) The 700r4 was the auto trans before the 4l60e

The 4l60 and the 700r4 are the same, both these are used interchangably, they have a throttle valve cable (TV), the 4l60-E is the 1 that is shifted electronically and was used in 1993 and newer trucks. The 4l60e is controlled by the PCM, the 4l60 and 700r4 are not.

The TBI 305 was 175 hp and 260 lb ft of torque

    Read Pauly's post.

Like I said 700R4. The 4L60E came about in 93. I call anything from 88-92 a 700R4 since its the same thing and it eliminates a lot of confusion from people thinking I just forgot to add an "E" to the 4L60 part.

Well I know the 454ss pickups came with a 4L80E in 1991 so I figured that the small blocks had the 4L60E.

Hey, thanks for all the great information. Have we come to a consensus as to wich model of tranny is in the truck? If they are one in the same then I guess it doesn't matter. Thanks guys.
