    Does this sound right?

1.) Unbolt both front & rear driveshafts from Transfer case
2.) Unbolt transfer case from transmission (6 bolts right?)
3.) Remove transfer case from vehicle
4.) Unbolt transmission from engine (6 bolts, right?)
    5.) Unbolt transmission from crossmember
    6.) Slide transmission out

Just worried about those torsion bars/crossmember...will it be in my way really?

first thing you wanna do is get some type of support under the tranny
I beleive that the cross member is bolted the x-case and there are only 4 bolts between tranny and x-case(atleast that is the way it is on my truck)
make sure you get all linkage and wires disconnected from tranny and x-case
This is probably going to be messy btw

The first thing I did was put a jack under the tranny to take the weight off and then pulled the cross member. then x-case. then tranny. thats what I did atleast.
    I hope this helps

I'll be using a nice tranny jack, so no worries there.

Should the engine be supported in any way while or once the tranny is out?
Didn't know if it may rock forward or back.

According to GM Powertrain, they weight in at 163lbs. I assume this is with the converter
