I just noticed the other day that when the trucks in park and idleing, the gas gauge needle kinda jumps up and down almost a 1/4 tanks worth or more. It never used to do this... But when I"m driving it stays steady like it should. Anybody else every seen this? Is this a sign that somethings getting ready to break/quit working on my truck? 99' 5.3L engine...At first I thought of the gas just rocking back and forth but sometimes it does it after its been sitting for hours in the parking lot and I first start it up??

Bad ground for sending unit. Take off the 10mm bolt holding the ground wire to the frame, sand frame down around hole, bolt wire back on.

The sending unit should be located inside the fuel tank.

yep, VERY common issue early on the 1999-2000 pickups.
The sending unit is part of the fuel pump inside the tank.
